Scope Engine: Getting Started
Scope Engine runs in your browser at scopeengine.serviceready.io. This is the same guide as the Help button inside the app.
From the first visit to your first scope: create an account, confirm your email, name your company, answer the setup interview, then scope a real loss or open the finished sample.
Sign in or create an account
Scope Engine runs in your web browser at scopeengine.serviceready.io. There is nothing to install. It works on a laptop, a desktop and a tablet.
- Sign in with Google creates your account the first time and signs you in after that. Google accounts are already verified.
- Sign in with email takes an email address and a password of at least 6 characters. To create a new account choose Create an account.
New companies start a 7-day free trial with no card the moment the company is named. During the trial every feature on every plan is open.
Forgot your password, or never set one
In email sign-in, type your email address first, then choose Forgot password — or setting one for the first time?. A link to set a new password arrives by email. It expires in about an hour and works once.
| Message | What it means |
|---|---|
| That email and password don't match an account. | Wrong password, or the address has no account. Use the reset link. |
| That email already has an account. | Sign in instead. If you used Google and never set a password, use the reset link. |
| Too many attempts. | Wait a few minutes and try again. |
| No connection. | Sign-in needs signal the first time on a device. |
Confirm your email address
An account made with email and password confirms its address before a company can be created. Your packets carry your company name to an adjuster, so Scope Engine checks the address is really yours.
- The confirmation email is sent automatically. Check spam if it has not arrived in a few minutes.
- Open the link in the email. It opens an Email confirmed page.
- Return to Scope Engine and press I've confirmed it — continue.
Use Send the email again if the first one is lost. After the daily limit, use Contact Support above and we will confirm the address for you.
Name your company, or join one
Every account belongs to exactly one company. Every estimate, rate, price book and document belongs to the company, not to the person who made it.
Creating a company makes a brand new, empty one with its own price list and none of your colleagues' estimates. Ask a teammate to invite you from Company, then sign in with the invited address and choose Join [Company].
Creating a new company
- Enter the Company name exactly as an adjuster should read it. Every packet, PDF and authority summary prints it.
- Enter the street address, city, state and five-digit ZIP. All are required.
- Press Create my company →. Your price book, rates and repository are set up in a few seconds and the app opens.
A free trial is offered once per business email domain and once per street address. A company created at a domain or address that already used a trial is still created, but it starts without free days and is asked to subscribe. Personal email domains such as Gmail do not count toward this limit.
The setup interview
The first time a new company opens the app, a short interview sets the things every scope depends on. It appears once, only for a brand-new company. Colleagues who join later never see it.
| Step | What it sets |
|---|---|
| What is your company called? | The name printed on every packet. Left blank, packets print a placeholder rather than a guess. |
| Which state does your company operate from? | Your work address state, not the loss address. In Kansas and Missouri it unlocks the researched city code adoptions. |
| How should your prices be built? | The reference price book, or your own labor rates. Start with the reference book if unsure. You can switch later. |
| What does an hour of crew time cost you? | Your loaded hourly rate: wage plus burden plus overhead. Only if you chose your own rates. |
| Do some trades cost you more than others? | Per-trade rates. Optional. |
| How do you bill contents handling? | By the room's contents level, or by counted items. |
| What does your equipment cost you per day? | Daily cost per equipment family. Blank uses the book. Zero means owned outright. Keep a local quote or invoice behind any rate you enter. |
The interview ends with a review screen and Save and start. Every answer can be changed later in Company. Skip setup for now is always available and nothing breaks if you skip.
Your first claim
A company with no saved claims sees a Start here card with two choices:
- Show me a finished packet → opens a sample four-room water loss, fully scoped and cited. It takes about five minutes and shows the finished output before you capture anything. Do this first.
- Scope a real loss opens the capture screen. A typical loss takes roughly fifteen minutes.
The Tour button on the capture screen reopens the sample at any time. If your current scope is not saved yet, you are warned before the sample replaces it.
Finding your way around
The bar across the top of every screen holds search and these buttons:
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| Claims | The list of every claim in your company, with who last updated it and when. |
| Inbox | Every claim's email conversation in one queue, with a count of new replies. |
| + New Claim | Starts a new loss. The saved claims stay in the list. |
| Help | This panel: the manual, and Contact Support. |
| Your initials | Company, Plan & Billing, Refer & Earn, Send Feedback and sign out. |
Inside a claim, the header shows the policyholder and address, whether the claim is saved, how many steps are left before Send, the invoice total, and the seven tabs: Scope Items, Evidence, Price Justification, Adjuster Omissions, Inbox, Work Order and Settlement. Case File in the ⋯ menu holds the facts, documents and packets sent.
The saved note reads Saved 2:14 PM · last edited by [name] when your work is in the repository. Two other states mean it is not reaching the repository: OFFLINE — not saving to the repository and NOT SAVED to the repository.
Working without signal
Scope Engine saves to your company's repository about two seconds after you stop typing. A save with no signal fails; it does not queue for later. Nothing reaches the repository until the connection returns.
If the saved note says OFFLINE or NOT SAVED, copy a save link before closing the tab. The link reopens the scope. Do not sign out while offline: signing back in needs a connection.
Make sure you are on the real site
The live product at scopeengine.serviceready.io shows no coloured banner across the top. A red PREVIEW DEPLOYMENT banner means you are on a test copy, and a MOVED banner means you followed an old address.
Contact support
Inside the app, open Help and choose Contact Support: the ticket carries the screen you were on. Or email support@serviceready.io.
